Butterfly Nature Study

I'd like to share with you a couple of the beautiful butterflies Kelly and I saw today on our nature walk. We were really out hunting for tadpoles but got distracted a few times watching these magnificent butterflies. I have to say one of the best things about the Charlotte Mason teachings is the nature study - So many times we race around and never stop to see the beauty that is around us if we just take a moment to look.

I like your butterfly photos! You found Zebra Heliconian, Gulf Fritillary, White Peacock, and Buckeye Butterflies. The Zebra is our Florida State Butterfly. I have a lot of additional informaion about those on my site: http://butterflies.heuristron.net/ if you want to see their egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and host plants. I have a lot on the Zebra and Gulf, some on the White Peacock, and would you please tell me where you got the photo of the Buckeye, because I'm missing that one completely! I'd love to go photograph one and add it! Oh, and your butterflies were sipping nectar from Spanish Needles flowers.
