"You don't want her too far behind other kids...."

We had my in-laws over today....
My mother-in-law kept asking how Kelly was doing with being homeschooled, and not in a good way. She said " You don't want her to get so far behind others of her age".... I felt so deflated! She kept saying "Are you teaching her enough to pass onto the next grade"? Things like that. I kept trying to re-direct her questions onto something else but she kept bringing it back up : (
Oh well.....

Hi Donna,

I've been homeschooling my daughter (now 9) since age 5 and I STILL get thrown, from time to time, on this one; worrying about where she is in comparison to her peers...

When I'm feeling this way, I sometimes wander over to besthomeschooling.org, where there's a great selection of well-written - and inspiring - essays about homeschooling.

The secular_homeschoolers board is also great for support. Val (who has been homeschooling many kids for many years apparently) wrote a post recently that I liked so much I even bookmarked it. If I can find it ;-) I can send it to you.

Have a good one!
