"Follow My Leader"

As we are working on the "Eye", Kelly & I are reading "Follow My Leader" by James B. Garfield. I had to inter-library loan the book and we got the 1957 edition of the book. What a great story! Our time with the book ran out and Kelly said "Now we won't find out what happens to Jimmy"! Heck anytime this kid is remotely interested in a book I'm excited. I contacted our library and we can keep it for another week which should be enough time for us to finish it. I just love the use of the "50's" language in the book! If you are doing an "Eye' study like us, I think this book will be a welcome addition to your study : )

I've never heard of this book. I'M going to see if my library has it.

We just finished the last Ranger's Apprentice.

First of all, I love that picture of Kelly!

We are starting Chemistry this year, too. I have decided to use the Ellen McHenry's materials, which includes COOKING with the element you are learning about. I think Dawson will like it! There is also a set of Mythbuster type videos about each element. Go to the following link to see what else we are doing (maybe you will see somethign Kelly might enjoy):

Since my Dawson is not a textbook kid, I have to get creative with him. Notebooking really worked for us last year in history, so I am going to have him read about each element and do a notebook page about it. Maybe that will help.

Good luck!!

Also, THANKS for the idea about taking a photo of the kids in front of the baby trees each year. I am sending them out to do that TODAY!!
